| City Inn,
the hotel group at the forefront of a new 'rising star'
sector of high-quality, stylish hotels, has turned its
back on conventional art and commissioned interior
specialists Aarte Consulting and First Light to
create new work for the public spaces in their new
flagship hotel in Westminster, London. First Light's photography features heavily in the hotel's Millbank Lounge, CITY CAFé restaurant and the large spiral staircase in the lobby. These 'London Abstracts' consist of swirling colour images, drawn from the surrounding London skyline and streets. The images can be appreciated close-up, whilst still having enormous dramatic impact when seen from further away in the lounge bar. In the hotel's restaurant
- CITY CAFé - the 'Neon Series' features vibrant flower
images, using a specially-developed darkroom process.
Based around the simple yet effective idea of 'flowers on
the table', these images have been reworked into a 21st
century medium to create a defining image for the
restaurant. |
