The First Light Gallery’s ongoing commitment to adding new imagery to our collection from around the world continues, with new work from all of our photographers. . Photography by Mark Nelson includes Havana, Connecticut / upstate New York in the Fall, capturing the golden colours of the famous Candlewood Lake area. Havana is shot in full colour in a photo-documentary style.
We have recently added images of the Countryside near Vancouver (Steve Parry) alongside new skylines of Brooklyn and Manhattan from Williamsburg (Mark Nelson). Also Lake District panoramics (Ade Groom) and Tom Taylor’s cross-processed new work of Paris. New to our group is New York photographer Craig Mierop with beautiful Still Lifes of Flowers in high resolution.

All images are available to view via our Main Galleries section on our menu.

‘thegreyzone’, our collective name for audio visual installations have been working on a large installation for the Alias group of hotels. Using the theme ‘land and sea’ the slow moving video paintings are meditations on the movement of cloud and sea over known landmarks on the South coast of the UK. They are to be projected on to wall sized screens and also in all guest bedrooms as a welcome to clients to the hotel chain.

Mark Nelson recently shot the cover and booklet for Theo Travis and Robert Fripp’s new album ‘Thread’. Photographed in Barcelona in the Gothic quarter, the abstracts complement the ethereal, quiet beauty of the music (available from www.burningshed.com).

First Light have now mastered to high definition their film on ‘the Buddha’s path’ called Timeless Journeys India. The DVD (52 minutes) is available for purchase, and for a limited period there are signed copies by the director Mark Nelson at a special price of £10 plus postage (see our Products). First Light are currently in pre-production for their new documentary ‘Timeless Journeys Japan’ having sold ‘TJ India’ to the National Geographic channel and others.
